Working at the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN

-

During our work at the United Nations in the fall and winter of 2015-2016, we closely cooperated with the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the UN.

We learned all about how the Mission operates, what are the pitfalls and tricks of multicultural diplomacy, obtained a better understanding of Ukraine’s foreign policy and the tools for its implementation on the ground.

It is worth mentioning that despite the shortage of personnel, Ukrainian Mission was able to strongly represent and lobby its interests at the UN, leading to the selection of Ukraine as a non-permanent member to the Security Council 2016-2017. It was an especially exciting opportunity for us to assist the diplomatic team during that time.

Working as part of the Mission, we attended meetings of the First, Second and Third  Committees of the General Assembly, drafted analytical reports and completed other assignments.

Apart from working with the Mission’s diplomats on a daily basis, we also had an honour to meet with then-Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN – Yuriy Sergeyev. We disscussed the current political situation in Ukraine, the progress of reforms and youth’s role in transforming the country.
