The 53rd Session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD53) took place on 4-13 February 2015 at United Nations Headquarters in New York under the priority theme “Rethinking and strengthening social development in the contemporary world”.
Among others, a draft resolution on policies and programmes involving youth, introduced by the representative of Senegal was adopted during the concluding session of CSocD. By this resolution the Council encourages States to develop comprehensive policies and action plans focused on the best interests of youth, as well as promote gender equality and the empowerment of young women and girls. The Council would call on States to consider youth issues in all appropriate aspects of the post-2015 development agenda, urging them to promote young people’s participation in all such decision-making processes.
Ukrainian Youth Delegates actively engaged in the work of the Commission through informal negotiations on Youth Resolution and through general work of the Ukrainian Mission to the United Nations.
